Every music is a confession. By constantly repeating the lyrics over and over, you’re calling for the things to come into existence. Hence there’s both PHYSICAL and SPIRITUAL consequences.
Even though there is nowhere in scripture that declares directly that secular music is sinful, we must choose wisely.
What the scriptures do say however, is that we must be careful with the words we use. *Matthew 12:36* states that people will be held accountable for every careless word they speak on the day of judgment.
Proverbs 21:23 states, “Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.”
This verse emphasizes the importance of careful speech and the consequences of careless words. It suggests that by controlling what we say, we can avoid many problems and difficulties.
*WE ARE ALSO WARNED ABOUT WHAT WE HEAR OR LISTEN TO*
Luke 8:18 states: “Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken away from him.”
This verse emphasizes the importance of actively listening and receiving God’s word with a receptive heart, as it will lead to further understanding, while those who are not receptive will lose even the limited understanding they may have.
There are certain songs that when you listen to stire up immoral or violent feelings. The beats and lyrics literally control your emotions and mental state.
There are demonic frequencies, rhythms, and repetitions in secular music that opens portals. These allow depression, addiction, and torment to take root.
When you listen to hours and hours of music celebrating sinful behaviour, it begins to numb your conscience. *Things that once shocked you become normal.*
Secular music makes you desensitised to evil things like murder. Research shows that constant exposure to violence in music, movies, and video games dulls people empathy and makes them more aggressive.
The more we engross ourselves in sinful entertainment, the more our discernment is compromised.
*QUESTION:* Guess what happens when you listen to hours and hours of Gospel music ONLY?
The Bible warns us in Romans 12: 2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
When we fill our mind with ungodly music, it comforms us to the world’s pattern and prevents renewal.
